Montreal style bagels, Montreal smoked meat, and other great foods with the delicious taste of Montreal, in Oakville, on the west end of Toronto and the GTA

Taylor'd Bagels in The Toronto Star
Here's a headline from The Toronto Star, Saturday, July 7, 2007

There are no holes in this story
Bagel lovers take sides –
Montreal vs. Toronto vs. New York –
and chew out the opposition

Read the story here.

David Rider, the Star's Enlightened Shopper columnist, met up with kosher cookbook editor Norene Gilletz last week, and they visited some of the older bagel bakeries in north Toronto. There was some interesting commentary in the article -- go and take a look.

Unfortunately, Mr. Rider did not get as far west as Oakville, but he did end his story by writing, "The Enlightened Shopper happens to love Montreal-style bagels and can recommend ..., in Oakville, buzz is building for Taylor'd Bagel (2501 Third Line). "

At Taylor'd Bagels, we follow the traditional Montreal methods -- we used to have a Bagel Bakery on the West Island of Montreal ourselves -- with the honey in the boiling water and with a genuine hardwood burning bagel oven, with no gas at all.

Even though we were not featured in the interviews, we were delighted to learn about the story when a Star reader pulled into the big parking lot in front of our bakery -- in the plaza at Third Line and Dundas, next to the RBC Bank --and came in and bought dozens of Montreal style bagels, and lots of cream cheese and Montreal smoked meat. The power of the press!
